At Dolce Vita on Sanibel Island, we want everyone to experience the “sweet life” and we strive to make each and every visit to our restaurant an enjoyable, memorable one. Occasionally, word filters back that we have not only succeeded but surpassed expectations….
The following is an excerpt from a recent trip report posted to the BestofSanibelCaptiva.com Message Board:
“…decided to eat at Dolce Vita for our last meal.
oh
my
god
It was awesome. The Owner welcomed us and spoke french all the time. The service was perfect. The food too.
And the best part:
After our meal the owner offered us three glass of sparkling white wine, and then other drinks when we were ready to leave. He was so friendly, spoke stories about the restaurant, studies in France and also about the people that come visit his restaurant. We had plan to leave at around 8 pm MAX because we had to drive back to Orlando to catch our flight the next morning. However that did not happen. We left at 9 PM, after a couple of drinks with this fabulous person.
the food:
we had the lobster bisk [sic], which was perfect
Both Audrey and Julie had bahamian lobster tail
and I tried their version of the…snapper, which was the best meal I had on the island this year:

Here are the pictures of us three.. sad to leave but happy.. after a perfect trip

Julie and Audrey with the owner Andrea Mucciga”
Dolce Vita thanks you for such kind words and we hope you are able to return soon!

Aloha from Kaweka wika!
That would be Hawaiian for “Welcome from Dolce Vita”! And if you’re thinking that sounds like the next stop on the Around the World Culinary Tour, you would be correct.
What a stop this will be. Food and fun are synonymous with Dolce Vita and Wednesday August 13th will be no exception, when Dolce Vita hosts a fabulous Luau Night in the style of Hawaii Five-0.
Get in the mood with a Volcanic- eruption cocktail in our Tiki hut. Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts, sarongs and hula dancing will be part of the evening’s fun and entertainment.
And speaking of entertainment (and excitement!) - Volcanic Hawaiian and Polynesian Entertainment is going to be sure to please.
There will be first, second and third place prizes for the best costumes. First prize is dinner for six with complimentary limo service. You can dress for the occasion or come as you are.
Wait, there’s more! The Sanibel Day Spa will also be joining in the Hawaiian theme providing goody bags of Hawaii based products by Paul Brown not to mention a contribution of three additional prizes: Paul Brown hair care bag; a Lavashell massage; and a Lavashell manicure and pedicure.

To twist and bend a cliché, possibly beyond recognition, “When from Morocco, do as Moroccans do.” That was the plan for Dolce Vita’s third in a series of “Around the World: A Culinary Tour and Celebration” events. The night of Moroccan food and festivities was celebrated on July 17, 2008 at this unique Sanibel restaurant.
Chef Aziz (Bouras), a Moroccan native whose love of cooking began at his father’s Tangier hotel and whose training in culinary arts continued at the Culinary School in Agadir, served up an abundance of tantalizing Mediterranean dishes. These included Roasted Chicken B’stilla, Moroccan Shrimp Cigars (you don’t smoke ‘em), spit-roasted Lamb Tangine, Charmoula Grilled Red Snapper alla Fassi, Cornish Hen with Olives and Lemon, with sides of tasty couscous, and traditional Baklava and Moroccan Mint Tea.
According to Chef Aziz, “The goal was to have a traditional ceremony or party like those found in my native country.” Applause that followed the presentation of each main course attested to the achievement of that goal. Of course, it didn’t hurt that the food was accompanied by a festive mood, accentuated by diners who showed up in costume and punctuated by professional dancers whose navel enthusiasm stirred the audience as they danced with swords while balancing wine bottles.
In the tradition of Dolce Vita, guests were also invited to abandon inhibitions and join into the festivities however they saw fit. Many did just that, displaying dance skills to admiring screeches of encouragement, in the traditional Moroccan alternative to applause.
Dolce Vita owner, Andrea Mucciga, also of Mediterranean heritage, described the evening as a “triumph of fun and food”, topping even the successes of his two previous special nights, Cinco de Mayo and Italian Roman Feast.
“People are happy we are doing this. In Morocco, people are very welcoming; the guest is king. The people give you the best of everything. We tried to recreate this and present the hospitality of the Moroccan people….”

This year Dolce Vita launced the Around the World: a Culinary Tour and Celebration. The Tour brings to the forefront the joy of recognizing the many pleasant customs that people around the globe are steeped in, bringing smiles and cheer to everyday lives. Learning and understanding how the world celebrates, is a great way to celebrate the essence of life, the sweet life. The exquisite world cuisine presented for each “tour” simply enhances the experience.
CINCO DE MAYO
Reflecting the spirit of the holiday, guests were encouraged to wear traditional garb while enjoying the special menu, dancing, and even some singing. Guest entertainers were a big hit and the evening was declared as “wonderful” by all!
JUNE BROUGHT A ROMAN FEAST
Hot on the heels of Cinco de Mayo night was our next celebration, in June, was Italian Feast – Roman Style. Once again, guests came dressed for the occassion in togas and robes to experience a taste of Italy with food, wine and Italian music.
Our Around the World Tour have been extremely well received. Guests are saying that they feel as if they have been transported to a different place and time.
Be sure to visit our web site at DolceVitaofSanibel.com to see complete photo galleries from both events!
